GAFINDER helps youfind the why.

Everybody already knows what they are doing. The harder question is why you keep going back, and you cannot answer that one alone at two in the morning.

My name is on this site because I gambled, lied about it for years, and finally sat in a room full of people who had done the same. I am not selling you anything. I built the thing I could not find when I needed it.

If tonight is bad, go to a meeting. If you are still telling yourself it is not that bad, answer five honest questions and see what you think afterwards.

2,514 meetings listed in 112 countries. 786 of them open in one click. Every one of them is free to attend.

How this usually goes

Four steps, in the order they normally happen

Nobody does all of this at once, and nobody does it in a straight line. Start wherever you actually are.

Step 1 · Right now

The hour after a bad bet is the hardest hour

You are probably reading this on your phone, sitting somewhere quiet, doing sums that will not add up. That feeling is not a character flaw. It is what gambling does to a brain it has hold of.

You do not have to decide anything about the rest of your life tonight. Put some friction between you and the app, tell one person a true number, and get yourself into a room. In that order. It works better than willpower does.

I sat in a car park for two hours before I rang anyone. I kept thinking I had to have a plan first. I did not. I just had to say it.

Step 2 · Today

A free meeting is probably starting within a few hours

Gamblers Anonymous costs nothing. There is no insurance, no diagnosis, no waiting list and no form. You can sit at the back and say only that you would like to listen, and nobody will push you further than that.

We list 2,514 meetings across 112 countries. 786 of them open in a single click because the passcode is already inside the link. Where a listing cannot do that, the card says so instead of pretending.

Nobody asked me anything. Somebody handed me a coffee and said they were glad I came. That was the whole of it.

Step 3 · This week

Then you have to look at the money

Most people can face the gambling before they can face the debt. That is normal, and the debt is usually more survivable than it feels at 3am. Interest freezes, hardship programmes and repayment plans exist, and so does bankruptcy.

We lay the options out side by side, including the free ones, and there is a calculator so you can see a payoff date instead of guessing at one. If we ever earn a referral fee, it is written on the page.

Writing the real total down was worse than saying it out loud. Then it stopped growing, and that was the first quiet week we had.

Step 4 · After that

Recovery is quieter than you expect

It is not a dramatic before-and-after. It is a Tuesday where you did not check the odds, a payday that stayed in the account, a conversation you did not have to lie in. That is what people mean when they say it gets better.

Gambling rarely travels alone either. Depression, anxiety, ADHD, drink and old trauma often come along, and treating only the betting leaves the rest of it running.

My daughter asked me to walk the dog with her and I did not have to check anything on my phone first. That is what changed.

Nobody gets out of this on their own, and nobody is expected to.

Every person on this page started with one awkward conversation they did not want to have. If you are somewhere near that point tonight, you are further along than you think.

Questions people ask us first

What does GAFINDER actually do?

Two things. It finds you a free Gamblers Anonymous meeting, which is a room where people talk honestly about gambling with no cost, no insurance and no diagnosis. And it helps you work out the why underneath it, through five honest questions, plain information about treatment and debt, and family rooms for the people who love you.

Are Gamblers Anonymous meetings free?

Yes. Gamblers Anonymous meetings are free and confidential. You do not need a referral, an appointment, insurance, or a diagnosis. You do not have to speak, you can attend and only listen.

Do I have to admit I am a gambling addict to get help?

No. You can attend a meeting, take the assessment, or ask a question without accepting any label. Most people arrive unsure. Curiosity is a good enough reason to start.

Is GA or GO a treatment center?

No. GA or GO is an informational and referral resource. It is not a treatment center and is not affiliated with Gamblers Anonymous. For medical care, contact a licensed provider; in a crisis, call or text 988.

How do I help someone who gambles?

Start by protecting your own finances and getting your own support, then invite rather than pressure. Family rooms such as Gam-Anon exist specifically for partners, parents and adult children, and they can be attended whether or not the person who gambles is ready to change.

What should I do first if I gambled money I needed today?

Take three steps in this order. Put friction between you and access, block the apps and remove saved cards. Tell one person a true number. Then get into a meeting today; there is almost always a room starting within a few hours.
